One of the highlights of coming home from a Lake Powell trip is uploading the photos. While it can seemingly take hours to sort through the images it always ends up being worth it. Many of the photos here were the result of sunny afternoons around Padre Bay on the back of a Mastercraft X35 (it was made for this!) Most bays around the lake provide great wakeboaring / wakesurfing opportunities, such as the Bullfrog Marina area, Halls Creek Bay, Padre Bay and Warm Creek Bay. It's hard to imagine a trip to Lake Powell without watersports. I suppose you could still have fun?

Rainbow Bridge National Monument in Pictures
In the midst of a stellar weekend on a houseboat at Lake Powell we visited Rainbow Bridge National Monument. It's a great day-trip if you're near Bullfrog Marina, Halls Crossing or Wahweap. Getting to Rainbow Bridge feels like most goverment maintained monuments; a well maintained hiking trail, clean(ish) restrooms, printed signs and a good boat dock. The short hike (currently 2/3 mile) leads travelers up a brief incline through towering red rock walls and into the low basin housing the natural bridge. It doesn't take more than a few minutes and you find yourself seeing the bridge in the background...a few minutes more and you're virtually underneath it.

The Cathedral in the Desert - Clear Creek Canyon Lake Powell
This spectacular spot is truly a gem in Lake Powell. Found at the end of Clear Creek Canyon, The Cathedral in the Desert is a narrow red-rock chasm leading to a lush grotto. Depending on the lake level it is accessible by small boats or personal watercraft. On our visit we took a 24' Maxum and squeeked through the narrow passages to find a small anchoring spot. The narrow passages create a mystical ride, and keeps you wondering "what's around the next bend?" or even "will we make it around the next bend?!" As with many canyons at Lake Powell you find yourself dazzled as you look up at the weeping walls, or viewing the beams of light as they make there way down the shaft. Once you reach the end it's a short hike up to the grotto - emerald pools and lush vegetation. You can view a map and guide to Cathedral in the Desert at the following website: Offshore Marina at Lake Powell, near Bullfrog Marina.

Lake Powell Stanton Creek Campsite
Stanton Creek Campsite at Lake Powell is adjacent to Bullfrog Marina and a great setting for people wanting to car camp at Lake Powell. With a short ride from the launch ramp in Bullfrog Bay it's a great place to set up camp and get access to watersports, fishing and canyon exploring at the lake. Here are a few selected images from a photo shoot of the area. You can see a guide for the area at Offshore Marina's website, or click this link to view Lake Powell Stanton Creek.
Lake Powell - Bullfrog Marina
Lake Powell is a photographers dream....blue water, red rocks, cool formations and dreamy night skies. On assignment for Offshore Marina at Lake Powell, I've been dispatched to photo various areas of Lake Powell. Here's post #1, Lake Powell - Bullfrog Marina. Hope you enjoy the photos and there's more to come.
